Medical Malpractice: Involves injuries or undesirable outcomes arising from medical care, sometimes despite you consenting to the treatment and where consent forms include waivers this does not automatically mean u are not able to make a claim if there has been negligence

Work Injury Compensation (Workman compensation)

If you have suffered injury in the course of work, you can make a claim against the negligent party. If however you have been hurt because of something you did yourself, as long as it is in the course of work, you may still be able to make a claim under the work injury compensation act. The extent of compensation you will receive in such a case may be improved with inputs from us.

 

Occupiers’ liability such as accidents in buildings, business establishments and public places. Sometimes it may be the relevant town councils who are responsible or relevant government agencies such as NEA, NParks, etc.

Case Study 1

JKLC pushed forward a novel case, in which compensation was successfully claimed in court proceedings for a hawker who was a victim in a traffic accident but actually ended up earning more money after the accident by switching careers to becoming an insurance agent. JKLC argued and the court accepted that notwithstanding that that he earned more as an insurance agent. The case was reported by CNA and the Straits Times, Mothership and Singapore Academy of Law/Lawnet.

JKLC helped a police officer who who was injured in a motor-cycle accident claim for more than $150,000 including for loss of promotion prospects.

Case Study 3

A case one of our lawyers defended against was a claim by a public servant who was injured in a traffic accident.  The initial claim was for more than $2 million consisting claim for pain and suffering, of loss of promotion prospects and impact on his superannuation scheme. After a vigorous defence, the claim was reduced to $11,000.
